The design & construction methods of these crossbows were in response to a desire for an inexpensive, yet quality made, combat crossbow for SCA use. In the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), they allow crossbows that follow certain construction rules to shoot specially made padded blunts at armored opponents. If you are not interested in the munition grade equipment, I can always custom make you a combat legal crossbow to your specifications.

These bows are being sold at $115 each, but to accomplish that, they are being mass produced. Therefore, I will wait each time until I receive a minimum number of orders, before I would start building any of them. Also, there is only one option allowed. This is adding a rope & wood stirrup to the front of the crossbow for an additional $10. Normally, these crossbows do not need a stirrup, as their low poundage allows you to brace the stock against your chest/leg, and pull the string back. The stirrup option is for people who feel they will have problems with that. If you wish to have some custom work done, take a look at my higher quality combat crossbows where I am happy to do any custom work you wish.

The specifications of this bow, are as follows:

• Oak stock - 27" long, 1.5" wide, 3.5" tall at it's thickest point.
• Notch-lock design, with oak trigger
• Prod made from Power-Tuff, a fiberglass specifically designed for bow use & covered in leather.
• Stainless steel bolt clip.
• Prod poundage approximately 65#, at 7.75" of draw, to provide around 500 in-lbs of force. Below the maximum 600 in-lbs allowed.
• Waxed linen bridle (binding the prod on)

This crossbow, as designed, should be legal in all Kingdoms of the SCA that allow combat crossbows that shoot fiberglass shafted arrows. It's in-lb rating is below the SCA standard, and the Poundage of the prod is below the 70# limit imposed by some kingdoms (Currently Trimaris & Meridies).
